super huge announcement ...

there is never a dull moment with my much older, and wiser brother.
by much older, I mean a mere twenty two months... but I take those months seriously as I count the gray hairs that are beginning to make an appearance.

Rockstar can be quite the character and full of laughs...
this particular day was no different, as I welcomed him into the studio for some Q&A time with scsd. I was happy to take on the role of the little sister wanting to make her big brother proud. I was thrilled actually.
no need for preparation on my behalf ... I figured we would just feed off each other's vibe - which is exactly how it went down.



HILARIOUS.
and even more so... very sweet.

Thank you, Rocky, for my 15 seconds of fame ... they were the best 15 seconds of the day! and thank you for spending your entire morning with me just to capture those 15 amazing seconds ... I cherish any moment we can spend together in this crazy life!

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!

I've been waiting so long to scream that from the rooftops but the work days have consumed my being ...   The future hubs popped that little question last weekend, and after an evening celebrating with amazing friends - we were like ships in the night until this past weekend.

Saturday night we finally had some down time so that we could just enjoy each other and celebrate the engagement ... after one long week at work and barely seeing each other, it was the perfect amount of everything.

We are SO excited, our hearts our full!

 she wanted her own little photo shoot too ... I permitted :)

Thank you LRT for the beautiful new crystal ... such a sweet friend who listened to a simple statement of spending the evening with my love, and then made it that much more beautiful. It was our very first Crate and Barrel box too ... oh, the little things ...

I'll post the engagement story later this week, but couldn't wait another minute to at least tell you lovelies!

in the spotlight ...

this monday morning I'm giving my full attention to a story I have been following for quite some time now ... and with each post I read, my heart is filled with an array of emotions that leaves me laughing, crying, grateful, hopeful, heartbroken, and in awe... all at the same time.

Meet Ashley. 

She's a mother, wife, daughter, sister, successful business owner, best friend, and quickly becoming my hero.
She's amazing...
I have yet to meet her personally, but her story has me drawn to the pages of her blog, Lil Blue Boo. 

I first met her sister, Perry, at a Haute Happy Hour event last year and was quickly drawn to her energy. Although I don't regularly stay in touch with Perry as I would hope, the power of social media has led me to Ashley's story... and I'm completely absorbed as I send my positive energy her way.

Ashley's heartbreaking story of her fight with cancer is quickly enlightened with her motto to "Choose Joy" ... She holds true to its meaning while she fights for her life and builds courage and strength from this curveball life has thrown her.
I am ...
Inspired... deeply.
Amazed ... completely.

I encourage you to join myself and Ashley's friends and family to help her in this journey. With open hearts and minds, there's no greater joy than to send love and encouragement to someone truly in need.

An auction is being held in her honor February 27th-29th in an effort to raise EPIC funds to help her in this fight against such an awful disease. They are still taking donations for the auction, as well as an opportunity to send your love directly to her donations account. My heart is full of encouragement and love for this event. dinner is served ...

I love my family over at QCE oh so very much. 

so when they asked me to show our readers the essence of a beautifully "scaped" table, I couldn't help but jump to the occasion. 

I very-much-so enjoy entertaining, and as you may already know - kind of have a thing for design ... 

design + entertaining = one killer dinner party. 

if only I could get friends together every weekend for good food, wine, and conversation. 

nowadays, we have to plan at least a month or more in advance, babysitters have to be arranged, work cannot be consuming our thoughts, and we have to have had at least 10 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours...

spontaneity went out the door in 1995...

right after we partied like it was 1999.

The plus side, taking that time to plan an intimate dinner for two or a feast for eight, brings a little spark back into our lives. The details will shine, and your guests will appreciate the love that went into simply celebrating each other.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and we would love to hear what you have planned!

love it or hate it ....

I am a food lover and a sweets addict ... any chance I get to try something out of my comfort zone, I am IN! We just so happen to be heading to Barcelona in March and I canNOT wait to partake in the smorgasbord of yumminess.

We do have a favorite here in Charlotte if we're in the mood for a little cultural experience. Copper, with its amazing Indian cuisine, faux tiger print walls, and seductive dim lighting makes us want to canoodle all night on the same side of the table ... oh yes, that's us. Don't hate.

We recently made Copper our "date night" restaurant of choice and enjoyed two deliciously large plates of meats and spices over a bottle of wine. Afterwards, we rolled ourselves over to the theater to see what I partially remember as Hugo ... I lasted a total of fifteen minutes before I was fast asleep and when I woke up (an hour later) I glanced over at the fav who also happened to be fast asleep, mouth open, serenading the theater with his shocking snores ... I'm not really sure how long this had gone on, so I quickly shook the little nugget and pointed to the exit ... with no hesitation, we ran out of the theater and not a clue as to how the movie ended ... I'm not even sure I know how it started.

needless to say, our date night at Copper left a lasting impression, and since then I've stumbled upon a different perspective to copper that is has made a very unique first impression.
